Raw Materials
Formulation
Molding
We have a wide variety of technical tools such as kneaders, high-speed mixers, shear rollers, extruders and many other tools for making compounds and filaments. Testing takes place on our injection molding machines from well-known manufacturers.

The production of granules containing binders is also provided for trials in our laboratory spray dryer. Necessary mixing systems and also analytical instruments supplement our technical cent ...
Debinding & Sintering

Debinding takes place either in water or a solvent (acetone). Appropriate debinding ovens are available in the technical center for our purely thermal or catalytic binder systems. The final sintering of the components is carried out in our sintering furnaces at up to 1650 °C.

Finishing (OTEC)
Parts & Components

As part of a test series, we can determine injection molding parameters and produce prototypes to evaluate component quality.

Hamburg, November 19, 2025 – KRAHN Ceramics introduces Water Boost (kcmold® WB-X), a new generation of water-debindable feedstocks for ceramic injection molding (CIM). With this innovative system, the Hamburg based specialist in ceramic solutions combines the technical stability of traditional POM binders with the ecological and economic advantages of modern – water-debindable binder systems – setting a new benchmark in ceramic manufacturing.

“With Water Boost, we deliver a solution that significantly advances our customers in terms of efficiency, sustainability and product quality,” explains Dr. Stefan Stolz, CEO of KRAHN Ceramics. “This development makes ceramics accessible to a wider range of applications. It also strengthens the capabilities of ceramic injection molding through optimized processes and greater design freedom.” The new feedstock generation allows aqueous pre-debinding of over 50 percent of the organic content within 48 hours – and over 30 percent in just 8 hours for thin-walled parts can be achieved. Thermal debinding time is reduced by over 50 percent compared to established water-based binder systems and can even be integrated directly into the sintering process, delivering significant savings in both energy and time, which also results in better cost efficiency. Lower residual organics further minimize scrap and process risks.

With its excellent demoldability, low sticking tendency and high green strength, the Water Boost system is well suited for automated handling. It also unlocks new design possibilities, allowing wall thicknesses of more than 10 mm. After sintering, parts require minimal post-processing thanks to their high dimensional stability, density, homogeneity and low ash content. Compared to conventional solvent-debindable or purely thermally debindable CIM feedstocks, Water Boost also offers a significantly more sustainable alternative: debinding is performed using regular tap water – without temperature control and without aggressive chemicals.

Water Boost is based on high-quality ceramic powders such as zirconia, alumina, ZTA, ATZ and non-oxides. kcmold® WB-AL1200.1 (Alumina) is already available – with additional feedstocks to follow as part of the expanding Water Boost portfolio in the coming months. With the support of the in-house technical center of KRAHN Ceramics in Dinslaken, customer-specific ceramic solutions can be developed efficiently, including formulations tailored for all common molding processes. Sample quantities are available and series production is possible at the Hamburg facility.
